Whether you are newer to business or have been in business for years and years, bookkeeping looks different to different people.
Bookkeeping used to be more about inputting the information, but it is changing to be more about interpreting the information that has been inputted, and adding value to you, the client, and your business. This is one of my goals as your bookkeeper.
I believe having a virtual bookkeeper has some huge benefits.
- Location. You can get the best bookkeeper who specializes in your SPECIFIC niche (not just a general one) because they don't have to be someone local to you.
- There are going to be less papers. If clutter and filing cabinets are a part of your world now, (think receipts, financial documents, statements) they don't have to be. Receipts and financial documents get attached digitally to files in an electronic "filing cabinet", so they are no longer taking up space in your office or your e-mail inbox.
- Secure cloud-based accounting software (Xero and QuickBooks Online are two of the big ones) has come a long way and this is what is normally used. Now using this software, you can access your books, records, and reports ANYWHERE at ANYTIME.
- You don't have to hire someone as your employee, so this saves you employer costs.
What do you think about hiring a "virtual" bookkeeper? What benefits come to mind for you?
